Two of Europe’s top sprinters, last year’s runner-up, Wizz Kid, who won France’s biggest sprint, the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp, on her latest start, and Society Rock, winner of the 2011 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the 2012 Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock Park on his latest outing, take each other on in the QIPCO British Champions Sprint.

They both come to Ascot in top form, with Wizz Kid representing Robert Collet’s powerful French stable and Society Rock coming from James Fanshawe’s Newmarket yard.

Fanshawe knows what it takes to win this race having saddled Deacon Blues to win the inaugural running last year.

Fifteen horses are set to go post in a very competitive line-up, with several potential threats to the big two.

As well as last year’s runner-up, the third and fourth horses, Libranno and Royal Rock, also return together with the fast improving Irish-trained three-year-old, Slade Power.

He has won his last four starts over six furlongs and could be a serious contender.

Restiadargent, a close third behind Black Caviar in this year’s Diamond Jubilee Stakes, is another with a big chance in the last big sprint in the European calendar.
