Kool Kompany has QIPCO British Champions Series races on his agenda after winning the Doncaster Mile at Town Moor on Saturday.

Richard Hannon, trainer of the five-year-old, suggested the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, at Newbury next month, and Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, would be targets.

He also admitted the success, gained at the main expense of Stormy Antarctic, has surprised him.

“I didn’t fancy him at all because he didn’t work great in the week and I thought he’d be too fresh,” said Hannon.

“The Group Two bet365 Mile at Sandown looks the next obvious race as we’ll build backwards from the Queen Anne and the Lockinge, too.”

Kool Kompany, the 2015 Craven winner, has had an unsuccessful spell in Australia but has clearly retained all his ability, getting up in the final stride under an inspired Ryan Moore, who won the first three races on the card.
