Love conquers all in the Investec Oaks

Aidan O'Brien's filly simply too good as she registers her 2nd Classic

Love powered clear in the Investec Oaks to register an 8th win in the Classic  for trainer Aidan O’Brien.

In a strangely run race the two pacemakers, Passion and Tiempo Vuela, were sent on early, detaching themselves completely and creating two groups of runners. It was only a matter of time however, shortly after Tattenham Corner, when the main group began to reel them in.

Having been ridden early to close the gap, Love quickly picked up the bit again and began to assert with two furlongs left to run. She then quickened again to burst a remarkable 9 lengths clear from stablemate Ennistymon and eventual third Frankly Darling

Following the race winning-jockey Ryan Moore said, “She’s very special I think. She didn’t stop at all, it was very impressive.”

A host of top middle distance targets surely await the daughter of Galileo; including a possible tilt at the final leg of the Fillies’ Triple Crown, the St Leger.
