Former jump jockey Ger Lyons trains at Glenburnie Stables in Dunsany, Co. Meath.
He has been training successfully for more than 20 years and saddled Lightening Peal to win the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket in 2011.
This year he came close to landing his first QIPCO British Champions victory through Endless Drama, who returned from a year on the sidelines to finish third to Belardo in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes.
As a youngster Lyons lived opposite the late Peter McCreery in Clane, Co. Kildare, and worked for him at every opportunity throughout his school years.
At the age of 20, he headed to America and top trainer Carl Nafzger offered him a job as a work rider.
When Lyons became too heavy to continue in that sphere, he returned to Britain and became a jump jockey, but his career was cut short by injury.
